Janet M. Borland 87, of Peru, died peacefully and surrounded by her family on September 18, 2016 in Heritage Health in Peru.
Funeral services will be 5:00 PM Sunday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with the Rev. Gregory Jarzombek OSB officiating. Burial will follow in St. Vincent’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until time of services.
Mrs. Borland was born in Wyandotte, MI on March 5, 1929 to Rocco and Marie (Panzica) Pizzutti. Janet loved her family and friends very much. She had a beautiful voice for the opera, singing for weddings, the church choir, family and friends. She loved to sing during the Christmas season. The kitchen is where she shined making dozens of cookies, pies and there was always a pot of spaghetti sauce and coffee. Illness in the family meant plenty of chicken soup at the ready. her annual 4th of July party is where she showed off her rock garden,gnomes and outdoor lighting displays. Christmas season brought out her famous lasagna with Italian sausage at Christmas Eve. Janet was an accomplished artist painting many canvasses, belonged to the Ottawa Art League and enjoyed lunches with the Red Hatters group. Authored books on Starved Rock and her special dog Tootsie and loved to travel with her husband. Italy being her favorite vacation. She was a beautician and owned Jan’s Boutique Shop in Peru for several years. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters Rosemarie (Thomas) (Zuchora) Walsh of Oglesby and Judy (Zuchora) Luecke of La Salle; one son Ronald (Christine) Zuchora of MN; eight grandchildren Capt. Tom(Kelly) Walsh, Toby(Lori) Walsh, Sean Patrick(Sara) Walsh, Ryan Luecke, Spencer Luecke, Nathan Zuchora, Tony Zuchora-Walske, and Marie Zuchora-Walske; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Borland was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne Borland in October 2015, one brother Samuel Storage, and one sister Frances (Storage) McGowan.
