Carol A. DeBernardi 78, formerly of Peru, died in Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru surrounded by her daughters on October 12, 2016.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday in Holy Trinity Church in Cherry. Burial will be in Ladd Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd is assisting her family.
Mrs. DeBernardi was born in La Salle on November 18, 1937 to Casmire and Helen (Hybki) Guziec. She married Peter DeBernardi Jr. on January 29, 1966. She worked for many years as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in La Salle.
Carol enjoyed playing cards with her lady friends. She liked knitting, gardening, camping, crafts, landscaping and dancing. She was a member of Green River and Tri-City Saddle Clubs. She was very active with the Cherry’s Mother Club.
Mrs. DeBernardi is survived by three daughters, Aimee (Joe) Twardowski of Mark, Audrie (Tadd) Lundquist of LaMoille and Arlene (Kurt) Peterson of Roanoke; seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on August 1, 2012 and her parents.
Pallbearers will be her son-in-laws and her grandsons.
