Robert "Bob" J. Olszewski

Robert “Bob” J. Olszewski, 68, of La Salle died peacefully at home on March 16, 2017.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with the Very Rev. Paul Carlson, Pastor of La Salle Catholic Parishes, officiating. Burial will be in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery with full military services conducted by the La Salle/Oglesby Veteran’s Memorial Group. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services.

Bob was born in La Salle on November 7, 1948 to Edward and Virginia (Kroll) Olszewski. He was a 1966 graduate of La Salle-Peru Township High School. Bob served with the US Army during the Vietnam War where he received a purple heart. He retired from Gardner Denver in Princeton. Bob was an avid Green Bay Packer and Chicago White Sox fan. He enjoyed muscle cars.

Bob is survived by his father Edward Olszewski of La Salle; one son Derek (Michelle) Olszewski of Ottawa; one daughter Niki (John) Hurst of La Salle; six grandchildren Logan, Kyleigh, Collin, and Mady Olszewski and Brady and Mason Hurst; one brother Eddie (Susan) Olszewski of La Salle; two nieces; one nephew; and many friends that knew him through the years.

He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia and a grandson Evan in infancy.
