Johnny Michael “Mike” Wiese “Katfish”, 67, of La Salle, passed away April 9, 2024 peacefully at Aperion Care in Marseilles.
A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, April 21, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Burial will be at a later date.
Mike was born in La Salle on June 4, 1956 to Johnny H. and Mary Lou (Brittingham) Wiese. He attended La Salle-Peru Township High School. He married Susan Baker on August 17, 1975. Mike worked various trades throughout his life. He was a heavy equipment operator, iron worker, off-shore oil well-man, and diesel mechanic.
Mike was an avid fisherman, hunter, and scavenger for old bottles and arrowheads. He could never go fishing without getting wet. He loved playing his guitar and singing.
Mike is survived by four daughters Michelle Kephart, Rebecca Beeney, Nicolle (Corey Maronge) Wiese, and Kattie (Matt) Tackett; eleven grandchildren Sam Ross; Kendra and Alex Kephart; Konstance Beeney; Chance Wiese; Peyton, Kaiden, Parker, and Kalli Tackett; Trinity Green; and Rhylie Maronge; two great grandsons Kingston and Ronald Justice; two brothers Glenn (Debbie) Wiese and Bobby Wiese; one sister Marla (Bill) Repsel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Susan Wiese on November 6, 2017, one sister Debra Graves, a grandson Quinn, and a son-in-law Joe Kephart.
