Genevieve “Jen” Meathe, 96, of La Salle, died May 29, 2017 in Illinois Valley Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday in St. Hyacinth’s Church in La Salle with Rev. Jacob Valle officiating. Burial will be in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting her family.
Mrs. Meathe was born in La Salle on December 23, 1920 to Anton and Anna (Kostelic) Perhay. She married Franklin W. Meathe on July 12, 1940. She was a homemaker and member of St. Hyacinth’s Church.
Mrs. Meathe is survived by one sister Jackie (Don) Shevlin of Peru; a daughter-in-law Joan Meathe of Elk Grove Village; three grandsons, Mike, Jeff and Steve Meathe; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Franklin on April 14, 2015, two sons, Dennis and David Meathe and a daughter in infancy Carol.
