Vincent R. Piscitelli

Vincent R. Piscitelli, 85, of rural Tonica, died at 6:52 PM on April 13, 2016 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. 

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Leonore with Rev. Gary Blake officitating. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday in the church from 10:30 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Piscitelli was born in Chicago on December 18, 1930 to Dr. V.J. and Estelle (Galuska) Piscitelli. He attended La Salle-Peru High School; St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY; Illinois State University; and Loyola University Pre-Med, Chicago. Vincent was employed by the US Government Dept. of Agricultural Research facility in Peoria. He retired in 1988 and moved to Tonica where he resided for 27 years. He married Eleanor Zebron on December 29, 1994. Mr. Piscitelli served with the US Army in Korea, 5th Army Victory Division. He was assigned to the 13th Engineer Battalion as a medic. Vincent was awarded combat division medals of Sharpshooter with Rifle Bar, Good Conduct Medal, and Korea Defense Service Medal. Mr. Piscitelli was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Leonore.

Mr. Piscitelli is survived by one brother Mark (Sandra) Piscitelli of Riverside, CA, seven nieces, two nephews, caregivers James, Jeniffer, James Jr., Jenna, and Jesse Breit of rural Tonica.

He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor on December 18, 2012 and his sister Carol Schweickert.
