Ruth M. Pinter, 97, of Ladd passed away peacefully on February 19, 2017 surrounded by her family at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Thursday in St. John’s Lutheran Church on the Hill in Hollowayville with Rev. Kim Lee-Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 1:00 PM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Pinter was born in Rockford on September 20, 1919 to Fred and Marquerite (Atherton) Schallhorn. She married Harold G. Pinter in St. John’s Lutheran Church on the Hill on June 25, 1939. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Pinter enjoyed bowling; she was elected in 2002 to the Illinois Valley Women's Bowling Hall of Fame. She liked to go fishing, working in her yard, playing video poker at the casino, and card games of all kinds. Mrs. Pinter was a lifelong Cub fan.

Mrs. Pinter is survived by one daughter Susan (Randy) Schumacher of rural Spring Valley; two sons Roger Pinter of Princeton and Curtis (Tammy) Pinter of Ladd; ten grandchildren Michael, David and Jeff Pinter, Luke and Alvin Pinter, Hannah Wilhelm, Jodie Miller, Laura Sears, Matt Pinter, and Nickie Pellegrini; ten great grandchildren; two sisters Louise Keuzter of rural Arlington and Janice Chaon of WI; one brother Raymond Schallhorn of La Moille.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 5, 1998, one son Ronald, three brothers, and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
