Dorothy M. Curry, 87, of La Salle died in her home on February 21, 2017.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Friday in St. Patrick’s Church in La Salle with Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with a rosary to be recited at 6:45 PM. Additional visitation will be in the church on Friday from 10:30 AM until time of services.
Mrs. Curry was born in La Salle on June 16, 1929 to Leo Jack and Sophie (Kierski) Koontz. She married Thomas Curry in St. Patrick’s Church on February 21, 1952. After her mother’s death, her father married Amelia Fitzkee who was a mother to her since the age of two. Dorothy was a bookkeeper at Tri City Hardware and Furniture for 30 years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, St. Ann’s Sodality, and Ladies of Charity.
She is survived by her son Dr. Thomas (Jane) Curry of Peru, one granddaughter Catie (Clayton) Bunzell of La Salle, and nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 28, 2000, two brothers Jack and Dick Koontz, and one sister Phyllis Stachowicz.
