Carlton L. Vogt

Carlton L. Vogt, 84, of Ladd, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2017 surrounded by his family in OSF St. Francis in Peoria.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Hollowayville United  Church of Christ with Pastor Mike Slutz officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of services in the church. The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd is assisting the family with arrangements. Ladd American Legion Post # 938 will conduct full military honors at the church.

Mr. Vogt was born in Spring Valley on May 15, 1932 to Ervin and Ivy (Nickel) Vogt. He married Darlene May on June 29, 1952. Then, he served with the US Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.  Carlton was a farmer and retired as assistant manager at Cargill Elevator after 32 years. Mr. Vogt enjoyed camping; he was a seasonal camper at Green River Oaks in Amboy. Over the years, he acquired an extensive John Deere collection. Carlton was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He loved children and to play Santa Claus for them. Mr. Vogt was a member of the Hollowayville United Church of Christ, Ladd American Legion Post #938, Ladd Moose, and drove a Case 1965 Lawn Tractor model 180 in local parades.

Mr. Vogt is survived by his wife Darlene of Ladd; son Wayne (Jacqueline) Vogt of Peru; three daughters Lynn (Brian) Pinter of Arlington, Tammy (Thomas) Helm of Ladd, and Dawn Whalen of Lockport; seven grandchildren Jamie, Nick, Greg, and Zack Pinter and Amanda, Adam, and Austin Helm; six great grandchildren; and one brother Fred (Ann) Vogt of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
