William “Butch” Adrian, 98 of Illinois Veteran’s Home at La Salle and formerly of Dalzell, passed away June 30, 2017 in St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in St. Thomas More Church in Dalzell with Rev. Patrick Fixsen officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park with full military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday in the church from 10:00 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd is handling arrangements.
William was born in La Salle on October 21, 1918 to Nicolus and Carolina (Krumscheid) Adrian. He graduated from La Salle-Peru High School in 1936. He worked at Westclox. He married Madeline Donaldson on June 28, 1941 and resided in Dalzell.
William entered the U.S. Army in 1943 till 1946, servicing in Germany, France, the Philippines and Japan. After discharge, he returned to Westclox and was a quality control inspector for 45 years, retiring in 1982.
He loved family, enjoyed bowling, fishing and golf. William was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus #792 Council in La Salle.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law Shirley Adrian of Peru; two grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Adrian of Montgomery and Sharon (Patrick) Egan of Poynette, WI; sister-in-law Loretta Donaldson of Dimmick Township; four great-grandchildren, Nolan and Michaila Adrian, Riley and Delaney Egan, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
William was preceded in death by his wife in 2009, son George in 2008, two brothers, Raymond and Robert Adrian. Pallbearers will be Brian Adrian, Patrick Egan, Nolan Adrian, Riley Egan, Jack Donaldson and Michael Adrian.
