Leonard S. Jacobowski

Leonard S. Jacobowski, 88, of 108 W Cleveland St. Spring Valley, passed away on November 15, 2015 in Liberty Village in Princeton.

Private graveside services will be Wednesday in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley. The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd is assisting the family.

Mr. Jacobowski was born in Peru on December 31, 1926 to Joseph S. and Lena (Boletta) Jacobowski Sr. He married Theresa Ponsetti in 1949. He served with the US Navy in the European Theatre in the Pacific serving on the USS Hancock from 1944-1945.

Mr. Jacobowski was an electrical engineer and worked at E.U.C. in La Salle, then Westclox, and later retired from Admiral Corporation in Galesburg. He was a member of Spring Valley Lion’s Club, American Legion, and the V.F.W. in Spring Valley and DePue where he served as past commander.

Mr. Jacobowski is survived by two sons Jerry (Pat) Jacobowski of DePue, Larry L. Jacobowski of Spring Valley; two granddaughters Julia Yuvan and Mary (Matt) Schmitz; one grandson Jeff Jacobowski; four great grandchildren Michael, Carlee, Brennen Yuvan and Hayley Schmitz; three sisters Wilma Harmon, Kathy Ferguson, and Rita Krewer.

He was preceded in death by his wife Theresa in 1985; one son Leonard A. Jacobowski in 2014; and two brothers Joseph Jacobowski Jr. and Fr. Raymond Jacobowski.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
