Keith “Skeeter” D. Baker, 92, of Tonica, died December 29, 2016 surrounded by his family in Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica with Rev. Mark Nowakowski, pastor of Tonica United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Tonica with full military services conducted by the Tonica American Legion. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM Tuesday until time of services.
Mr. Baker was born in Tonica on October 22, 1924 to Leonard S. and Anna Marie (Thompson) Baker. He graduated from Tonica High School in 1942. He worked at the Seneca shipyard until joining the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served in the Eastern Theater during WWII. After the service, he owned and operated Keith D. Baker Painting. Keith was a member of Tonica American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and doing things in his yard.
Mr. Baker is survived by his sister Margaret Woolcox of Batavia; beloved nieces, Joanna (Lloyd) Vest of North Aurora, Terrey (Kevin) Peterson of Oswego, and Wendy Baker; great niece Ashley Vest, great nephews Korey Peterson, Michael Baker, and Steven Baker and other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Veron and Jack Baker, a sister in infancy, and a nephew Mark Baker.
