James W. Thompson, 72, of Spring Valley and formerly of Cherry, died peacefully at 10:50 AM April 21, 2016 in his home.
Cremation rites have been accorded and burial of his ashes will be at a later date in Valley Memorial Park. The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd is assisting his family.
Jim was born on November 22, 1943 to Jay and Alice (Windels) Thompson. He operated a semi-truck, then owned and operated Edgewood Supper Club, Jay’s Supper Club in Cherry and then J.T.’s in Cherry. He enjoyed cooking.
Jim is survived by two sons, John (Melanie) Thompson of Spring Valley and James “J.T.” Thompson of Stevens Point, WI; six grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Kelsey, Keeley, Jax and Ryker; two great-grandchildren, Bennett and MaKenna; one sister Sharon Sharkey of Peru and his former wife Pat Thompson of Spring Valley.
He was preceded in death by one daughter Jennifer, his parents, two brothers, John and Jake; two sisters, Millie Mini and Tootie Fonderoli.
