Floyd "Pete" L. Petersen

Floyd “Pete” Petersen, of Wenona, 93, passed away suddenly, surrounded by his family, at 11:24 a.m. Nov. 14, 2015, in Illinois Valley Community Hospital, La Salle.

A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Franciscan Friars will officiate at the Mass. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, La Salle. Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the church.

Pete was born March 31, 1922, in Lostant to Louis and Teva Petersen.

He attended Tonica High School and worked very hard for his parents who were local farmers in rural Lostant. Pete was a dedicated custodian at Wenona High School for over 23 years, never having missed a day of work.

He married Lorraine Daffara from Oglesby in 1946. They had two children, Joseph Petersen, who died at birth, and Kim Petersen, who passed away in 1999. He lost his beloved wife Lorraine in 2001.

Pete was an unpretentious, loving person, who was faithful to his family and work endeavors. He was gentle, kind and always truthful. He was dearly loved and adored by his family and friends.

He is survived by nieces and nephews, Maribeth (Mike) Durham, Charles (Susan) Lohr, April (Roger Taylor) Lohr, Randy (Marlene) Lohr, Chris Lohr and Cary Lohr.
