Albert R. Zarobila, 87, of Oglesby died November 15, 2016 in Manor Court of Peru.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Friday November 25th at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Shrine in La Salle. Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood with full military honors. Visitation will be in the church on Friday at 9:30 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Zarobila was born in Cleveland, OH on July 4, 1929 to Charles and Susanna (Hiznaj) Zarobila. He served with the US Army during the Korean conflict. He worked for the Nickel Plate railroad and then retired from J & L Steel/LTV Steel. He married Ethel M. Ambrose on October 13, 1951. Mr. Zarobila was a member of the Lion’s Club and United Steelworkers Union. Albert grew up having a deep Catholic faith with an immense loyalty and commitment to his family which carried over to his own family. He had a never ending energy, competitive will and unbelievable work ethic that was proven by his coarse hands and firm handshake. Al was an athletic and skilled worker. He took great pride in his home, yard and garden. Albert will be remembered for his love of music, dancing and animals. His tremendous courage in overcoming some severe trials and his ability to make people laugh. He will be truly missed by his wife, daughters, family and friends.
Mr. Zarobila is survived by his wife Ethel of Oglesby; four daughters Lorraine (Gary) Boggio of Hennepin, Diane (Chuck) Alleman of La Salle, Lynn (Phil) Griffo of Port Orange, FL, and Lisa (Michael) Templeton of Lostant; thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one brother Paul Zarobila of Brecksville, OH.
He was preceded in death by one sister Mary; and four brothers Mike, Chuck, Bob, and Eddie, who died during the Battle of the Bulge.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
