William “Dolfan Dan” Steinbach, 73, of La Salle, passed away November 11, 2021 in his home.
Mass of Christian will be 10:30 AM Saturday in St. Patrick’s Church in La Salle with Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is entrusted with his services.
Dolfan Dan was born on August 17, 1948 in Albia, Iowa to William and Deena (Robert’s) Steinbach. He served with the United States Navy from 1965 until 1969, stationed in Japan.
He married Aletha Bryan on August 10, 1972 and she died on August 22, 2013. He worked at Caterpillar for 30 years. After retiring he was a route driver at NewsTribune for 15 years and enjoyed giving milk bones to his dogs on the route.
Dolfan Dan attended La Salle-Peru Township High School. He was an avid Miami Dolphin, San Francisco Giants and University of Miami College fan.
He is survived by two sons, Shane Steinbach of La Salle and Marcus (Andria) Steinbach of Highland Village, TX; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Julie Anne Johnson, his parents and one sister Margaret Rose.
