Obituary

William "Bill" Quesse Jr., 65, of Spring Valley, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2023.

Mass of Christian burial will be 12:00 PM Saturday at St. Joseph's Church in Peru. Visitation will be 4-7:00 PM Friday at Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Additional visitation will be in church Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of services. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Spring Valley.

Bill was born in LaSalle on June 11, 1958 to Bill and Rita (Essl) Quesse. He was a 1976 graduate of La Salle-Peru High School and graduated in 1981 from Illinois State University.

He went on to have a decades-long career at Eureka Savings Bank in La Salle where he served as the Director of Computer Services and later CIO until his retirement in 2021. In 1996, he founded an organization called the Illinois Valley Network Users Association (IVNUA), which hosted training and networking events for IT professionals, and turned the proceeds from these events into a yearly grant program. These grants supplied technology to local schools and libraries – from 1996-2015, over $100,000 was distributed, for which he was immensely proud.

As a programmer and technologist, he felt it important to encourage local students to enter that field, and with the help of his brothers and sons started the Quesse Technology Scholarship, which is awarded each year at La Salle-Peru High School. The scholarship will certainly continue in his honor.

Always curious, Bill explored many hobbies. He was a spectacular woodworker, a Ham radio enthusiast, and was an avid Cubs fan, to name a few.

Bill was an amazing host – he loved bringing people together, and always considered himself lucky to have so many fulfilling life-long friendships.

He was an exceptional father, husband, and a man of great integrity. He was always there with advice, love, and a sharp wit.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Liz (Trebusak) Quesse, son Billy (Gracelyn) Quesse, son Tom Quesse, sister Debbie (Tom) Lyons, brother Gary (Debbie) Quesse, brother Jim (Mary) Quesse, several nieces and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita, and father, Bill.
