William “Bill” L. Dart, 81, of Tonica passed away August 9, 2021 at Manor Court in Peru.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday in the Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica with Rev. J.A. Small officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Tonica with full military honors conducted by the Tonica American Legion. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until time of service.
Mr. Dart was born in Chicago on February 25, 1940 to Lawrence L. and Marian E. (Shirran) Dart. He married Evelyn M. Pelszynski on November 26, 1960 at St. Valentine’s Church in Peru. Mr. Dart graduated from Tonica High School, Class of 1958. He was a veteran of the US Army Reserves for seven years. He worked 30+ years for Combined Insurance Co. of America. He was honored with the Ring of Diamonds for the Presidents Group. He also owned and operated Countryside Cars Wholesale and the Karmel Korn Shop in the Peru Mall. He developed the TIF Program for the Dart Subdivision in Tonica. He also developed 40 acres in the Dart Subdivision in Osage Beach, MO.
Mr. Dart was a volunteer with the Tonica Fire Department and also served on the Board of Directors. He was past president of the Tonica Commercial Men’s Association and member of St. Valentine’s Church in Peru. He enjoyed boating and snowmobiling.
Mr. Dart is survived by his wife Evelyn of Tonica; three children Todd (Alisa) Dart of Seattle, WA, Lawrence “Lonnie” Dart of Montana, and Stacey (David) Etnire of Aliso Viejo, CA; six grandchildren Brandon, Zachary, Derek, Rebecca, Connor, and Carson; two great grandchildren P.J. and Rowan; one sister Lora (John) Immel of Lostant.
He is preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jensen, Ruth Ellyn Sons and an infant brother Donald “Otis” Dart.
