William V. Peterson

William “Bill” V. Peterson, 75, of Wenona died at home surrounded by family and friends on June 5, 2021.

Cremation rites have been accorded. The Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona is assisting the family with arrangements. A celebration of life will be Saturday June 19 at 2:00 PM at Boardwalk Restaurant in Wenona.

Mr. Peterson was born in Streator on October 13, 1945 to Viron and Gladys (Grant) Peterson. He served with the US Marine Corp and also in the Marine Corp Reserves out of Peoria. He was raised on the farm outside of Wenona. He was an over-the-road truck driver and farmer for 50 years.

Mr. Peterson married MaryAnn Schmitt in 1969. He enjoyed working outside and riding his Harley. His greatest joy was his grandchildren.

Mr. Peterson is survived by one daughter Judy Peterson of Toluca; one son Jeff (Jennifer) Peterson of Wenona; five grandchildren Madi, Hannah, Sarah, Eli, and Jonah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Judy Peterson.

Memorials may be directed to the Wenona Fire Department or St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
