William S. Hawley

William S. Hawley, 80, of Peru passed away peacefully December 9, 2025 at Goldwater Care in Spring Valley. 

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 13, at St. Valentine's Church with Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with his arrangements.

Mr. Hawley was born in Spring Valley on May 22, 1945 to William S. and Madelyn (Nanni) Hawley. He attended Dalzell Grade School, Hall High School, and St. Bede Academy. Mr. Hawley married Susan Prokuski on October 24, 1970. He worked at Westclox and then retired from Maze Nail in Peru. He was a member of St. Valentine's Church, where he served as an usher for many years, St. Stephen's, and La Salle's Knights of Columbus. Mr. Hawley enjoyed going to movies, watching TV at home, and getting his rest. 

Mr. Hawley is survived by his wife, Susan Hawley of Peru; one daughter, Lisa Hawley of Peru; two grandchildren, Patrick Shan Jr. and Starlynn Shan both of Peru; a special friend, Andrea (Patrick Sr.) Shan of Peru; and three sisters-in-law, Sharon Prokuski of Bloomington, Donna (Bob) Martin of La Moille, and Diane Prokuski of Peru.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Art Hahn.
