Wendy Sue Barto

Wendy Sue Barto, 63, of Peru, died August 8, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday in the Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle with the Rev Lloyd Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at 11:30 AM until time of services.

Wendy was born in Spring Valley on August 29, 1957 to James and Sue (Scanlan) Barto. She was a graduate of LaSalle Peru Township High School in 1975. She was an LP Cavalette and was active in gymnastics, tennis, and modern dance. Wendy graduated from Patricia Stevens College in Milwaukee. She worked at Neiman Marcus and Mario Tricoci for many years as a makeup artist in Chicago. She was a talented and artistic person who enjoyed drawing, hiking at Starved Rock, and watching football. She enjoyed music and loved all animals. Wendy was a fun loving person with a passion for photography. 

Wendy is survived by her mother; Sue of Peru, two sisters; Pemela Jackson of Sublette and Amy Barto of Peru, several nieces and nephews, and a longtime childhood friend; Sheila Powell of Peru. 

She was preceded in death by her father; James in 1993, a brother-in-law; Randy Jackson in 2021, her maternal and paternal grandparents, and her dog; Jazmine.

Pallbearers will be Tyler, Trent, and Landen Jackson, Peter Birtsch, Brian Fenwick, Shane Link and Sheila Powell.
