Virgil Nave Obituary

Virgil Nave, 75, of La Salle, passed away March 25, 2024 in OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa.

A Celebration of Life will be 5:00 PM Sunday April 14, 2024 in First Congregational Church of Peru with Rev. Mark Harder officiating.  Full military services will be conducted after services at the church by the Peru Memorial Veterans Group.  Visitation will be in the church from 4:00 PM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home is entrusted with the funeral services.

Virgil was born in Springfield on July 25, 1948 to James “Pete” and Geraldine “Jean” (Pape) Nave Jr.  He served in the United State Air Force from 1966 until 1973 where he was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base during Vietnam.  He worked at Sieg’s in La Salle before owning Affordable Remodeling.  He married Dalia Familan on September 12, 2014 in Tagum City, Davao del Norte Philippines.  

Virgil was a volunteer Fireman and EMT for Lostant Fire Department. He was a Boy Scout Leader and Scout Master.  He enjoyed baseball coaching, boating, swimming, fishing, singing and dancing.  In his years in the Philippines, he spent volunteering with TCCRI-Tagum City Children’s Relief Inc. Charity Organization.

Virgil is survived by his wife Dalia of La Salle; one daughter Tricia (Walter) Glasper of La Salle; one son Paul Nave of La Salle; three step-children, DeAnna (Dan) Sallee of New Orleans, Cris Dharren (Annalie) Lacang of Australia and Catherine (Joenex) Lacang of Japan; his first wife Donna (Lunn) Hess of Peru; eight grandchildren, Levi (Casey) Nave, Jordan (Rose) Nave, Mason Nave, Samuel (Coral) Hoff, Kristin (Nathan) Marco, and Matthew, Nicholas, and Vicki Tedeschi; five step-grandchildren, Gabriel Pytel, Trenton and Kelin Sallee, Althea Faye Lacang and Shavana Lian Lacang; eight great-grandchildren, Lawson, Kylie, Kasin, Hayden, Addison and Lilliana Nave, and Alexandria and Avery Hoff; one sister Karen (Dale) Ammons; three brothers, Dale (Teresa) Nave Sr., Johnie (Nida) Nave and James (Wanda) Nave; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother David Nave Sr., one sister Joan Ann Nave, one nephew Eric Bernabei, and one niece Jeannie Marie Nave.
