Ursula Margarita Gassner, 55, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023 at 3:40 PM at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago after a long illness.
Ursula was born in Dixon at KSB Hospital on June 26, 1967 and was a lifelong resident of Dixon. She attended Dixon High School and Sauk Valley Community College, and was proficient at both American Sign Language (ASL) and German. She was an employee of Kreider Services for over 22 years. Prior to working at Kreider, she worked for Raynor Garage Doors, Wahl Clipper Corporation, Pizza Hut of Dixon, and the Illinois Department of Public Aid as a secretary.
Ursula had a lifelong love of animals, and a passion for helping anyone in need, particularly those who were less fortunate than her. She enjoyed traveling, concerts, and taking her cat “Kit” for walks.
She is preceded in death by her parents Wilhelm and Friderun (Maier) Gassner of Dixon.
Her survivors include her brothers Günther Gassner of Sterling, and Heinz (Monica Nedza) Gassner of Peru, and her Aunt Herta Moran of Peru (formerly of Junction City, KS). She is also survived by several nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of services and flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Granny Rose Animal Shelter in Dixon, IL.
