Stacey Wertz Obituary

Stacey M. Wertz, 50, of Dimmick, passed away on November 17, 2019 in Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru after an extended illness.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Sublette with the Very Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Sublette. Visitation will be Wednesday in St. Hyacinth’s Church in La Salle from 4-7:00 PM. Additional visitation will be in the church in Sublette Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements.

Stacey was born in Mendota on March 13, 1969 to Gene and Sue (Fischer) Leffelman. She married Richard J. Wertz on November 27, 1993. In May of 1989, Stacey began working as a radiology technician in Illinois Valley Community Hospital.

Stacey was the unofficial, LP team photographer. She was a Longaberger collector and dealer. She also made scrapbooks. She enjoyed vacationing with her family and friends. She loved her wrestling family, Tomahawk Bluff neighbors and friends, and her friends and coworkers at IVCH. Stacey was very active with LP wrestling, and along with her husband, Rich, they were board members for the LP Crunching Cavs.

Stacey is survived by one daughter Abby O’Malley of La Salle; two sons Andy and Max Wertz of La Salle; her father Gene Leffelman of Sublette; two brothers Shawn Leffelman of Sublette and Scott Leffelman of Amboy; sister-in-law Debbie Duncan of La Salle; one niece Whitney; three nephews Tyler, Nick and Ryan; two great nieces Emersyn and Sloan; and her kitten Georgie & cat Penny.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rich on October 10, 2019, her mother Sue Leffelman in 1995, and stepmother Faye Leffelman in 2013.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a fund to be established in Stacey’s name.

Pallbearers will be Mark Lorden, Ryan and Tyler Leffelman, Nick Duncan, Brandon Miller, and Patrick Shea.
