Sharon M. Spayer, 76, of La Salle, passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be 6:00 PM Monday, December 5, at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM until time of services. Cremation will follow the services, and a private burial will be at a later date.
Sharon was born in La Salle on December 10, 1945 to Norbert and Eleanor (Maas) Seabeck. She married David Spayer at Holy Rosary Church in La Salle on January 16, 1965. Sharon worked as a manager in the shoe department at K-Mart in Peru, then retired as a pharmacy technician at Walgreens in Peru, and then was a homemaker. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Women’s Sorority, La Salle VFW Auxiliary, and St. Hyacinth’s Church in La Salle.
Sharon enjoyed crocheting, especially afghans, baby clothes, and even dog sweaters for family and friends. She loved hunting fossils and camping along the Vermilion River. She was an avid baker and kept the family tradition of baking strudels and potica. She liked going to the gambling boat and lottery scratch-offs. Sharon took pride in her flowers and her garden. She enjoyed working on word search puzzles. Spending time with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandson was extremely important to her.
Sharon is survived by her husband David of La Salle; four children Diana (Rob) Smith of South Jordan, UT, John (MiChelle) Spayer of Peru, Mike Spayer of La Salle, and Debbie (Dave) Pyszka of Granville; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandson and one on the way; one sister Sandra Seabeck of La Salle; one uncle Herbert Maas of La Salle; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister in infancy, Diana Lynn Seabeck.
