Sharon L. Leynaud, 87, of Peru, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Monday in St. Joseph’s Church in Peru with Rev. J.A. Small officiating. Burial will be in Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7:00 PM Sunday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle and 10:00 AM Monday in the church.
Sharon was born in Peru on April 1, 1936 to Edward and Lucille (Morrison) Robb. She married George J. Leynaud on May 14, 1954. They spent many years together until his death on July 31, 2006. She worked at the Peru City Clerk’s Office for many years until her retirement.
Sharon enjoyed working out at the YMCA, traveling, and socializing with friends. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
She is survived by Renee L. (Robert) Baker of La Salle, Attorney George G. (Patricia) Leynaud of Peru and Attorney Rebecca M. (Michael) Ryan of Tonica; grandchildren, Dr. Christopher (Dr. Catherine) Campbell, Rebecca (Chris) Skorek, Dr. Nicholas (Rebecca) Campbell, Nathan (Kim) Baker, Chase and George “G.W.” (Cassidy) Leynaud, Mackenzie, Morgan and Attorney Michael J. Zywica, and Fay and Max Ryan; great-grandchildren, Oliva, Colin, Brian, Sophia, Sam, Chance, Sloane, George”Crew”, Nolan, Jack and Emma; and her caregiver of 8 years Carol Baptiste.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson D.J. Baker, one brother Donnie Washkowiak and a bonus father that raised her, Henry Washkowiak.
