Sharon A. Barron, 88, of La Salle, passed away peacefully June 1, 2023 at St. Margaret’s Health in Spring Valley.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Barron was born in Peru on April 27, 1935 to Milton and Bertha (Schoffner) Coulter. She attended La Salle-Peru High School. In 1953, she married Lester Wenzel. They built and ran the Sandman Motel and Country Supper Club for many years. Later, she married William J. Barron on December 16, 1967. She and her husband Bill ran Graphic Electronics in Spring Valley for many years and traveled to London, Paris, and Japan selling their engraving machine.
Sharon enjoyed flowers, her garden, cooking, baking, and her favorite wine, merlot. Her special day was Christmas. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sharon was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Barron is survived by two daughters Dixie Wenzel McCullough of La Salle and Rhonda (Jeff) Baker of Spring Valley; one son Lester (Teresa) Wenzel III of La Salle; two stepchildren Mark (Maureen) Barron of Spring Valley and Laura (Reed) West of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren Tracy Butler of Hennepin, April McCullough of Mendota, Sara Baker Wozniak of Encinitas, CA, Jeffrey Baker of McNabb, and Sabrina Baker of Granville; five great-grandsons Troy and Teagan Beckman, Joey, Slade, and Rocksen Wozniak; her sister-in-law Susie (Rick) Hedden; and three nephews Brent, Darryl, and Todd Hamer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill on August 13, 2008, and her sister Linda Hamer on July 6, 2022.
