Ruth Goodwin

Ruth Goodwin, 87, of Wenona, passed away at home on June 8, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.  The Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona is entrusted with Ruth’s arrangements.

Ruth was born in Armington on September 30, 1933 to Edward and Edelle (Miller) Pech.  She graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  She taught in Benson and then was a substitute teacher in Wenona school system.

Ruth married Charles Goodwin in Armington Christian Church on July 23, 1955.  She was very active in the Wenona Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Homemakers Extension and was a Girl Scout leader.

Ruth is survived by her husband Charles of Wenona; three daugthers, Lee Ann (Joseph) Frade of Phoenix, AZ, Susan Cherny of Peru and Janet Summers of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Jake and Mackenzie and one great-granddaughter Braelyn.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law Keith Cherny.
