Roland “Bek” Bekeleski, 86, of Spring Valley, formerly of Peru, passed away peacefully surrounded by family April 11, 2021 at Aperion Care in Spring Valley.
Mass of Christian burial will be 12:30 PM Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Peru with Rev. J.A. Small officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Webster Park. Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Thursday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle.
Bek was born in Spring Valley on September 17, 1934 to Andrew and Ella (Shilkuski) Bekeleski. He married Charlene Corpus on November 6, 1955. Bek, along with Charlene, owned and operated Bek’s Steak and Stein for 32 years.
Bek was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, past member of Peru Rotary, and Illinois Valley Liquor Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking, and playing euchre.
Bek is survived by his wife Charlene of Spring Valley; children Carmen (Ron) Ator of Mesquite, NV, Cynthia (Lin) Denler of Dimmick Twp., Shawn (Margaret) Bekeleski of Spring Valley, Ronada Bekeleski of Spring Valley, Rena (Jeff) Foster of Peru; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by one grandson Andy Hurst and a brother-in-law Abbott Roger Corpus OSB.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Bekeleski, Lin Denler, Jeff Foster, Charis and Jake Sherman, Jani and Mitch Guerrero, Hayden Hurst, Carly Spelich, Clayton Ator, Carroll Bekeleski, and Paige Foster.
