Robert “Bob Folty” Foltynewicz, 82, of Tonica, passed away December 12, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday in the Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica with his daughter-in-law, Norma Foltynewicz, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 4-7:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services.
Bob was born in La Salle on August 1, 1940 to Frank and Emma (Hauptman) Foltynewicz. He graduated from Tonica High School in 1958. On October 11, 1958, he married Diane Ribolzi. Bob, along with his parents and wife, ran Folty’s Supermarket in Tonica for 50 years. He was president of Tonica Fairview Cemetery and a trustee on the Village of Tonica Board. He was known as “Mr. Fix-It”, loved woodworking, and also known for making woodworking jigs for his projects. He was also the former president of Woodworkers Unlimited of Princeton.
Bob is survived by his wife Diane; two sons William (Norma) and Dirk (Cathy); five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fritz and Emma and in-laws Peter Ribolzi and Betty (Howard) Ribolzi-Morgan.
Pallbearers will be Janelle Folty, Ryan Folty, Brandon Folty, Kevin Folty, Brian Hoffman, Dan Wren, and Jeremy Hillyer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials by be directed to the Fairview Cemetery Association or Tonica Fire Department.
