Robert “Bob” L. Stirratt, 89, of Peru passed away January 13, 2025 peacefully surrounded by his daughters at Allure Nursing Center of Peru.
Mass of Christian burial will be 12:00 PM Friday, January 17, at St. Valentine’s Church in Peru with Rev. Gregory Jarzombek OSB officiating. Burial will be at St. Valentine’s Cemetery in Spring Valley with full military services conducted by the Peru American Legion. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 10 :00 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with his arrangements.
Robert was born in Spring Valley on September 3, 1935 to James and Harriet (Leynaud) Stirratt. He served with the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. He worked at Huntsman Chemical in Peru. He married Darlene Kotecki who passed on January 20, 2000.
Robert was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed fishing and gambling. He especially loved his family.
Robert is survived by two daughters Kelli (Robert) Currier of Oglesby and Bobbi (CJ) VanSchaick of Spring Valley; five grandchildren Eric (Patricia) VanSchaick, Jason (Kasey) VanSchaick, Corey (Courtney) VanSchiack, Kevin (Samantha) Currier, and Courtney (Michael Muro) Currier; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one sister Jeanette Urban of Peru.
He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene; three sister Lorraine Bartolucci, Margaret Arnold, Betty Nestler; and one brother James Stirratt.
