Robert E. Walsh

Robert “Bob” E. Walsh, 80, of Ladd, passed away February 25, 2019, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5 at Holy Trinity Church, Cherry, with Rev. Ronald Margherio, OSB officiating.  Visitation will be in the Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.  Cremation rights have been accorded.

Bob was born February 15, 1939 in St. Mary Hospital in LaSalle to John and Clara (Maier) Walsh. He married Karon Hopkins in 1963, and they celebrated 55 years together. 

Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's Elementary School, L-P High School, L.P.O. Junior College and Troy State College. He thoroughly enjoyed playing basketball at all four schools. Bob's career was primarily in sales with Metropolitan Life and Suarez & Associates. He was a volunteer basketball coach at Holy Family School in Oglesby and a member of the IVCC Foundation Board. Bob was extremely devoted to family, loved life and valued his friends and former classmates.

Bob was the husband of Karon; brother of Jack "Flea" (Gerry) Walsh and George Walsh; brother-in-law of Patricia Eiten and Mary Claire McAdams; uncle of Jeff (Teri) Walsh, Shelly (Roger) Sines, Michael Eiten, Mark (Margo) Orlandini, Susan Orlandini, Christy (Dave) Mattioda, Melissa (Scott) Carruthers, Tim (Mary) Walsh, Dean (Nancy) Walsh, Jack Walsh, Jay Walsh, Lynn (Michael) Klein, Carla (Robert) Breisch, Brian (Mary) McAdams, Mary Catherine (C.J.) Ritterbusch, Peter McAdams, Patricia (Thomas) Dart, and Matthew (Adrianne) McAdams; and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary Catherine Orlandini and Elizabeth “Betty” Eiten; sister-in-law Louise Walsh; brothers-in-law Laverne Eiten, Dale Eiten and Louis Orlandini; niece Lori (Eiten) Brophy; and nephew Dean Eiten.
