Rita McNulty

Rita McNulty, 90, passed away peacefully at Your Life Memory Care Assisted Living in Tallahassee, FL on Sunday December 13, 2020.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Monday in St. Vincent’s Cemetery in La Salle with the Very Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Visitation will be in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle from 10:00 to 10:45 AM Monday. A memorial mass and celebration of life will be at a later date.

Rita was born in La Salle, IL on May 23, 1930 to Walter and Hedwig “Hattie” (Rogowski) Thelen. She graduated from La Salle-Peru-Oglesby Junior College in 1950 and married her sweetheart, Patrick J. McNulty, in 1954 at St. Joseph’s Church in La Salle.

Throughout her life, Mrs. McNulty delighted in meeting new people, enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles, and was known for her incurable sweet tooth. Rita and her husband Patrick traveled the world, building lives in Houston, Caracas, and Coral Gables, their four children in tow.

Mrs. McNulty is survived by her sister, Norma Gibson; her son, Daniel McNulty; her three daughters, Mary (Mirek) Wasiukiewicz, Kathleen (Eric) Kropp, and Patricia (Parker) Emery; and her five grandchildren, Michael Wasiukiewicz, Jason Wasiukiewicz, Ryan Kropp, Megan Emery, and Grant Emery. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband Patrick in 1995 and her brother Charles Thelen in 2018.
