Rita Joan (Schmiot) Buritz

Rita Joan Buritz, 97, formerly of Lake Thunderbird, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 16, 2025.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 5, at St. Mary’s Church in Henry with Rev. Michael Pica officiating. Visitation will be in the church from 10:00 AM until time of services. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with her arrangements.

Mrs. Buritz was born in Skokie on June 6, 1928 to Edward and Marsela Schmiot. She was the loving wife to the late Walter Charlie Buritz. She was also mother to her late sons, Dennis Charles (Jeannette) Buritz and David Roger (Suzanne) Buritz. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Hallen.

She is survived by two granddaughters Shannon and Colleen; two great grandsons, Felix and Max; niece, Kimberly Feltman; and many other cousins, relatives, and good friends.
