Richard “Dick” Giacomelli

Richard “Dick” Giacomelli of Ladd, IL passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024 at the age of 90.  

Private graveside services and burial will be at Ladd Cemetery with Rev. Gregory Jarzombek OSB officiating. The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd has been entrusted with his arrangements.

Dick was the son of the late John (Jack) and Dorothy (Kuhl) Giacomelli and born in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Hall High School, Spring Valley, IL in 1952 and from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, St. Louis, MO in 1956.  He was a proud member of the Kappa Psi Pharmacy Fraternity, Chapter Gamma Pi and belonged to the Illinois Pharmacist Association. Dick owned and operated Ladd Pharmacy, at first along with his late father, Jack, in Ladd for fifty years, retiring in 2007.

Beloved husband of the late Ellen Janet Giacomelli (Anderson) and survived by his three children, John Giacomelli of La Salle, IL Colleen Giacomelli of Boston, MA, Sue Ellen Murrey (Matt) of Boston, MA and two grandchildren, Catherine and Ryan Murrey. 

He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Giacomelli and a brother in infancy.
