Richard R. "Dick" Klieber

Richard R. “Dick” Klieber Sr., 88, of Ladd, passed away peacefully December 20, 2021, in St. Margaret’s Health in Spring Valley.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday in the Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd with Fr. Ronald Margherio, OSB, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bureau with full military services conducted by the Ladd American Legion. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 3-6 PM and Monday from 10:00 AM until time of services.

Dick was born in Oglesby on September 25, 1933 to George and Louise (Topolski) Klieber. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War from 1955 until 1959 where he was stationed in Germany. He married Janice Steele on September 29, 1961. Dick worked as maintenance and a tool and die maker at Phillips Joanna in Ladd, retiring in 1996. He was a Boy Scout Master in Ladd for 26 years. He received the Silver Beaver Award in 1974, a high honor for Scout Masters. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and woodworking. He also enjoyed camping at 40 & 8 Lachateau Park in Annawan for 47 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Dick is survived by his wife Janice of Ladd, three children; Marla (Crystal) Forbes of Ladd, Debra (Randy) Hasbrook of Sheffield, and Richard Klieber Jr. of Ladd, six grandchildren; Ashley Weber, Chrissy (Nathan) Shepard, Adam (Maurita) Forbes, Jacob (Mandi) Klieber, Sydney (Levi Harms) Faletti, and Kaylyn (Jacob Brand) Weber, five great grandchildren; Chandler, Talan, Khloey, Everett, and Chanel.

He was preceded in death by one brother; George Klieber Jr., two sisters; Dorothy Bassetti and Georgine Koster, and one granddaughter; Meaghann Hasbrook.
