Raymond "Ray" D. Ellis

Raymond "Ray" D. Ellis, 71, of Cherry, passed away September 11, 2024 at Goldwater Care in Spring Valley.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd has been entrusted with his arrangements.

Ray was born in Spring Valley on August 6, 1953 to George and Mae (Franklin) Ellis. He married Anita Hewitt on January 12, 2000. Ray was from a large family growing up with nine siblings. He attended Granville Schools and joined the Local Laborer's Union #393 in 1971 when he was 18. Many of those years were spent working for Advanced Asphalt. After retirement he worked part-time for Westfield Township. He was a hard worker and enjoyed helping everyone he could. He loved his grandchildren, loved his Harleys, was an avid Bears fan and enjoyed his ice cream. 

Ray is survived by his wife Anita; daughters Amy Ellis, Janella Osbourne, and Angel (Todd) Dannis; one son Josh Ellis; three sisters Karen Mosley, Kathy Ellis, and Joyce Winch; two brothers Rusty and Randy Ellis; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Vicki; three brothers Rollie, Richie, and his identical twin Rodney; and one daughter Molli Hewitt.

Memorials may be directed to his family or donor's choice.
