Patricia L. Nickel

Patricia L. Nickel, 64, formerly of La Salle-Peru, passed away December 12, 2023 in Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be at a later date.  The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is entrusted with Patricia’s funeral arrangements.

Patricia was born in La Salle on October 25, 1959 to Walter and Rita (Haley) Zorn.  She married Mark Nickel.  She operated a Day Care, was a florist and an entrepreneur.  She raised and showed chickens.  Enjoyed gardening, creating glass art and traveling.

Patricia is survived by one daughter Jeannette (Jeremy) Wheeler of Decatur; two sons, Bart (Katrina) Nickel of Greeley, CO and Scott (Elena) Nickel of Fort Collins, CO; four grandchildren, Annabel, Jude, Zoey and Hawthorn; significant other Chet Grandt of Johnsburg; two brothers, Dan (Sharon) Zorn of La Salle and Tom (Deb) Zorn of Johnsburg; one sister Jane Marynus of Peru; 4 nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son in infancy Mark Nickel Jr.
