Neil Alan Tipton

Neil Alan Tipton, 68, of Peru, passed away at home surrounded by his family on November 11, 2023.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Pastor Darin Jones officiating.  Burial will be in Peru City Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 14th in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle and 10:00 AM Wednesday until time of services.

Neil was born in Ottawa on August 13, 1955 to Lloyd C. and Edith (Petre) Tipton.  He married Leesa Jakse on July 12, 1975. He was a 1973 graduate of La Salle-Peru Township High School. He was retired as an Oiler/Lube Tech at Illinois Cement.  He enjoyed collecting Petroliana, antiques, refinishing old cars and spending time with his friends. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. Neil was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Peru and USW Local 657, where he served on the bargaining committee.

Neil is survived by his wife Leesa of Peru; two sons, Matthew (Heather) Tipton of Simpsonville, SC and Nathan (Adriana) Tipton of Columbus, OH.;  four grandchildren, Maggie, Molly, Logan and Eloise; and one sister Eileen (Leo) Trujillo of Peru.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold and Darrell Tipton.
