Nancy A. Brown

Nancy A. Brown, 93, of La Salle, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025 at Ottawa Pavilion.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, November 13, at St. Patrick’s Church in La Salle with the Very Rev. Thomas Otto officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 10:30 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with her arrangements.

Nancy was born in La Salle September 19, 1932 to John and Ann (Schott) Schmitz. She was a chef for many years at the Hotel Kaskaskia, Deer Park Country Club, and Senica’s Oak Ridge Golf Course. She was an antique dealer throughout her life. In her younger days, she loved being a lifeguard at the La Salle Pool. She also enjoyed horse racing.

Nancy is survived by three children, Melanie Brown of La Salle, Leo Brown of CA, and Toni Ann Pagani of Maui, HI; eight grandchildren, Dawn Timmons, Lisa Timmons, Niki (John) Gibson, Savannah Lee Brown, Georgia Lynn Brown, Lee James Skeens, Anton Cole, and Estee Cole; twelve great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Joanne Ortwerth of Quincy; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Holly Skeens, grandsons, Eric Timmons and Zack Timmons, and one sister, Evalynn Chonowski.
