Mildred “Millie” L. Barry, 79, of LaSalle passed away after an extended illness on June 10, 2022 at Aperion Health in Spring Valley.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru with Pastor Tom Redig officiating. Visitation at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the services. Burial will be at St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery in LaSalle. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements.
Millie was born in Compton on June 1, 1943 to Elsworth and Helen (Shirley) Weiler. She married Michael Barry on October 9, 1982 at Holy Family Church in Oglesby. They were happily married for 28 years, until Mike’s passing in 2010.
Millie was a retired nurse from Heritage Manor where she worked for over 25 years. During her retirement years she was an avid volunteer. She volunteered at the PADS shelter in Peru, at the Hall Township Food Pantry in Spring Valley and was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru where she was part of the sewing group, funeral committee, and a greeter.
Millie is survived by one son, Leon (Melissa) Noel of Peru; one daughter, Tracy (William) Ahlborg of Somonauk; four grandchildren Tyler (Kylee) Noel of Urbana, Joshua Noel of Champaign, Shelby Ahlborg of Somonauk, and Hannah Ahlborg of Somonauk; four siblings Carolyn Becker of West Plains, MO, Linda Sullivan of Ottawa, John (Shelia) Weiler of Mendota; and Robert Weiler of Indianapolis, IN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Barry on November 3, 2010, her parents, brothers-in-law Ronald Becker & Gerald Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in her name to her favorite charities:
Special Olympics of IL Region A, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, Illinois Valley PADS homeless shelter, Hall Township Food Pantry, or St. John’s Lutheran Church’s Good Sanitarian Fund.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Tyler & Joshua Noel,
nephews: Roger Jackson & John Thompson, and great-nephews: Jacob & Landon Jackson.
