Michaeleen “Mickey” Dimond, 67, of La Salle, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be 6:30 PM Thursday May 30, 2024 in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with The Very Rev. Thomas Otto officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until time of services. Private burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery in La Salle.
Mickey was born in La Salle on February 17, 1957 to Frank and Lillian (Leschewski) Dimond. She graduated from La Salle-Peru High School in 1975. Mickey worked as a laboratory technician for Manley Silica in Troy Grove and later for Ottawa Silica in Ottawa and Jackson, TN. She finished her career working as a mine inspector for MSHA.
Mickey is survived by her long time partner James “Jim” Orsini of Ottawa; her brothers, Dennis Dimond of Peru, twin brother Michael (Katie) Dimond of Shorewood and Patrick (Monica) Dimond of Rancho Palos Verde, CA; sisters, Kathy (Jon) Bastuck of La Salle and Susan (Mark) Wangler of La Salle; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Thomas Dimond, and a niece Lauren Dimond.
Mickey and Jim enjoyed their life together with shared interests of beekeeping, gardening, canning, and going to sales. She also was creative and artistic and loved outdoor activities.
Mickey was a good friend and beloved of many. She was especially appreciated by her nieces and nephews and loved spending time with them. She will be mourned and missed by all.
