Michael Pavy, 76, of La Salle, passed away January 22, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Wednesday January 28, at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Full military rites will be conducted after services at the funeral home by the La Salle/Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until time of services.
Michael was born in Portageville, MO on December 18, 1949 to Norman and Cleta (Davenport) Pavy. He served with the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. He served with the 1st Marine Division as a rifle marksman. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart.
Michael married Rae Angela Vela on December 7, 1971. He worked at LTV Steel in Hennepin until retirement.
Michael loved his hikes at Starved Rock and his daily nature walks on the I&M Canal. He enjoyed garage sales, flea markets, reading military history, and watching westerns.
Michael is survived by three children, Michele (Rick) Langham of Castle Rock, CO, Janel (Seth) Kress of Lombard, and Clifton (Amy Davis) Pavy of Spring Valley; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Luke, Hudson, Amya, Alyssa, Adian, Adrianna, and Raelynn; eight brothers and sisters, Roger (Mony) Pavy, Dave Pavy, Rick (Teresa) Pavy, Dan (Anna) Pavy, Nancy (Mike) Layden, Kathy Pavy Gepper, Mark (Virginia) Pavy, and Larry Pavy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rae; one son, Jacob; one brother, Jerry Pavy; and one sister, Pam Torchia.
