Mary Lynn Burgess

Mary Lynn Burgess, 75, of Tonica passed away at home on Monday June 26, 2023.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday July 1, 2023 at the Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica with Pastor Mark Nowakowski officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Tonica. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services.

Mary Lynn was born in La Salle on May 9, 1948 to Angela (Urbanc) Thompson. She married Robert E. “Smokey” Burgess on February 14, 1970. Mary Lynn worked at the Hardees in Oglesby for over 10 years. Along with her husband, Mary Lynn was a volunteer with Tonica Fire and Ambulance as a firette. She was a former member of the Tonica United Methodist Church. Mary Lynn enjoyed watching the birds and fishing. She especially loved making poticas during the holidays.

Mary Lynn is survived by her daughter Angie Liss of Dalzell; two grandsons Tristan Liss and Chace Mecagni both of Dalzell; cousins Linda (Herb) Gaudette of Paulsbo, WA, Jim Deichmueller of Garner, NC, and Chuck (Donna) Deichmueller of La Salle; and her companion Walter Hoehne of Tonica.

She was preceded in death by her mother in 1980, her husband on February 6, 2015, and her son Rob Burgess in 2001.
