Mary Jane was born at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley, Illinois, on October 20, 1925, to Harry A. and Sarah Loretto (Roach) Cassiday. She was a 1939 graduate of Immaculate Conception Grade School and a 1943 graduate of St. Clara Academy at Sinsinawa Mound in Wisconsin. Following her high school graduation, Mary Jane joined Cassiday Bros., a business her father established in 1912 in Spring Valley. She played an important role in operating the business alongside her father during World War II. Mary Jane would go on to become an owner of the family business, now known as Cosgrove Distributors. In addition to her time in the business, Mary Jane was also dedicated to her work at Immaculate Conception Parish in Spring Valley. Her strong belief in the Catholic faith and her years of service are a lasting legacy. Mary Jane was an amazing mother and grandmother who took great pride and joy in her three daughters, Sarah, Nora, and Maria, as well as, her grandson, Christopher and her son-in-law, Peter. In her later years, she came to know and love Diana and Artur Murawski and their children, Kacper, Adrian, and Bartek, of Peru. Mary Jane will be remembered for her faith in God, her love of the simple things in life, and her unique ability to make friends at every turn.

Mary Jane is survived by three daughters, Sarah (Peter) Cosgrove Gaumond of Gaithersburg, MD, Nora Cosgrove and Maria Cosgrove Drager, of Spring Valley; one grandson, Christopher Gaumond of Gaithersburg, MD; and her sister, Loretto Leydon, of Peru.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her daughter in infancy, Mary Jane Cosgrove, her former husband, John Cosgrove, and her brothers: Harry, Thomas, Father Francis, and John.
