Mary E. Weide

Mary E. Weide, 85, of La Salle, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2022 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

Private funeral services will be at Trinity United Church of Christ in La Salle with Pastor Betty Delgado officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in La Salle. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Weide was born in Bloomington on September 21, 1936 to Albert and Dorothy (Sims) Somolski. She married Harry Weide Jr. on February 19, 1955. Mrs. Weide worked in the spring department at Westclox and then as a cashier at A&P Grocery Store in La Salle.

Mrs. Weide enjoyed playing the organ and finding treasures in Publishers Clearing House. She was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Also, she enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel, especially the Christmas movies. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren; they were her pride and joy.

Mrs. Weide is survived by her husband Harry of La Salle; three sons Harry (Marianne) Weide of Peru, Gary Weide of La Salle, and Larry (Suzette) Weide of Peru; one daughter Cheryl (Mark) Maggio of Peru; seven grandchildren Tricia (Tim) Gaughan, Chelsea (Tanner) Schwartzbach, Rebecca (Andrew Carter) Weide, Justin (Courtney McCollum) Weide, Jared Weide, Matthew (Martyna Widera) Maggio, and Jessica Maggio; four great grandchildren Levi, Maddex, Benny, and Sutton; one sister Charlene (James) Gruben of Palatine; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John Somolski, and great grandson Gavin.
