Mary Margaret McClenning, 80, of Oglesby, passed away at home on March 11, 2025.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, at the Rutland Cemetery in Rutland.
Mary was born in Livingston County on October 21, 1944 to Lloyd Basil and Edna Marie (Benton) McClenning. After high school, Mary lived and worked in Chicago many years and was a ticketing agent. She then returned home to Streator to be close to her parents and had a few different jobs, including making machine parts in her brother Carl's machine shop and home healthcare. After she no longer could work, she was moved to a small home in Oglesby where she spent her last years. Mary was deeply religious and active in her faith.
Mary was an inventor. In 1993, she filed patent for a folding travel hanger, patent # 3,874,572. Mary was inspired while working as a stewardess and observing travelers struggling to take proper care of their garments. Mary was a poet. She delighted in creating religious themed poems.
Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her ten brothers and sisters.
