Mark D. Meyer, 68, of Peru, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on November 4, 2025 at OSF St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Peru surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, November 9, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. At 3:00 PM, there will be time to share stories about Mark. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services.
Mark was born in Upland, CA on August 7, 1957 to Fred and Audrey (Wobrock) Meyer. After his father left the Navy, the family moved back to the Illinois Valley. From there, at young age, Mark started helping with the family’s furniture business, Wobrock’s. Mark later began working with Aramark in Ottawa where he gave over 20 years of service. After retirement, his second love was driving his bus for Illinois Central School Bus of Peru.
Mark loved fishing, four-wheeling, and woodworking. He was very handy. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Mark is survived by his son, Adam (Kristal) Meyer of Webster Park; his life partner, Jan Johnson of Peru; bonus children, Patrick (Mary) of Spring Valley and Steven (Amanda) of Ocala, FL; six grandchildren, Jordyn (Nick), Callie, Evey, Grace, Levi, and Abby; one great grandson, Lewis; and his former wife, Deborah Meyer of Webster Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Steven.
