Marjorie C. (Zolper) Galloway

Marjorie C. Galloway, 87, of Peru, died February 3, 2023, surrounded by her family at Heritage Health in Mendota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday in St. Hyacinth’s Church in LaSalle with The Very Rev Thomas Otto officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Mendota. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Additional visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 9:00 until 11:00 AM.

Mrs. Galloway was born in LaSalle on January 19, 1936, to Joseph and Otillia (Meyer) Zolper. She was the second oldest in a family of 10 children. She married John Galloway on April 14, 1956. Raising a family was her greatest, accomplishment and joy, but she also worked outside the home over the years. She was a telephone operator, worked at Bassick’s, worked in the kitchen at Mendota Hospital, and cleaned offices at Carus in La Salle. She was a member of St. Hyacinth’s Church and St. Anne’s Society. Marjorie enjoyed taking care of her children, especially helping her daughter Joanne at the Lunch Box Cafe, going to daily mass, walking outdoors, and enjoyed family picnics at the home of Keith and Joanne Lanham.

Mrs. Galloway is survived by nine children: Stephen Galloway of LaSalle, Julie Henkel of Peru, Jayne (Mory) Jaime of Fresno, CA, Bruce (Wanda) Galloway of LaMoille, David (Patricia) Galloway of Virginia Beach, VA, Carol (Ron) Karns of Wichita, KS, Brian (Robin) Galloway of Jonesville, Susan (Mario) Data of Ladd, and Rachel (Kris) Sivak of Maryville, TN; twenty-two grandchildren: Vanessa, Sebastian, Tanya, Nathan, Philip, Timothy, Barrett, Matthew, Stephanie, Samantha, Sindy, Jason, Jamie, Jessica, Jamie Marie, Troy, Kurt, Marc, Damian, Grace, Gabriel, and Xander; thirty-one great-grandchildren; eight siblings: Marilyn Sexton, Joseph (Judy) Zolper, Gerald (Susan) Zolper, Ronald (Cheryl) Zolper, Dale (Jenny) Zolper, Paul (Marijean) Zolper, John (Cindy) Zolper, and Marcia (Glenn) Kleckner.

She was preceded in death by John Galloway; her parents, one sister June Mary; one daughter Joanne Lanham; daughter-in-law Helen Galloway; grandchildren: Joshua Eich, Carl Galloway, Jenny Lanham, Kayla Cook, Chelsea Jaime, and Richard Jordan; great-grandchildren: Jackson Dawkins, Lilly Galloway, and Lucy Galloway.
