Marie T. Newcomer

Marie T. Newcomer, 87, of Peru passed away peacefully on April 4, 2021, Easter Sunday, in Manor Court of Peru.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Friday in St. Hyacinth’s Church in La Salle with Rev. Thomas Otto officiating. Live streaming will be available on the Hurst Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements. Masks and social distancing will be required.

Mrs. Newcomer was born in Ottawa on July 9, 1933 to Francis and Margaret Julia (Koenig) Hollenbeck. She married Wayne McNamara in 1953. He died on July 7, 1958. She then married Wilfred Newcomer on August 11, 1962, and he died on February 16, 2010. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Vito Vighi. She managed the IVCH Auxiliary gift shop.

Marie enjoyed playing cards with her lady friends on Saturday nights.

Mrs. Newcomer is survived by two sons Michael (Renée) McNamara of Peru and Troy (Raelene) Newcomer of Peru; one daughter Deborah (Dan) Nagle of Orland Park; six grandchildren Dr. Ryen (Kristin) Nagle, Joseph (Thea) McNamara, Dr. Stephen (Lauren Barganz) McNamara, Nicholas Newcomer, Miranda (Alex) Headley-Garcia, and Jaedyn Newcomer; ten great grandchildren Mara, James, Luke, Kelly, Matthew, Jude, Vincent, Carlyle, Eleanor, and Willow; two sisters Judy (David) Meling of Ottawa and Sherry Bennett of Bourbonnais.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands and two sisters Patricia Leach and Margaret “Peggy” Reynolds.
